Who Is Trevor Noah?

Trevor Noah is a popular South African award-winning comedian, writer, producer, political commentator, actor, and television host. 

He is best known for anchoring the satirical television show “The Daily Show” since 2015. He also is the show’s writer and executive producer. 

He also wrote an autobiographical comedic book “Born a Crime” which was released in 2016.

Trevor Noah is fluent in many languages including-English, Afrikaans, Zulu, Xhosa, Tswana, Tsonga and bit of German.

Early Life

Trevor Noah was born on 20 February 1984 in Johannesburg, South Africa to his Swiss ancestry father- Robert, and Xhosa ancestry mother- Patricia Noah. 

His parents’ inter-racial marriage was illegal under the apartheid law. His mother was jailed and fined by the South African government while his father later moved back to Switzerland. 

Trevor Noah was raised by his mother and maternal grandmother, Nomalizo Frances Noah.

Education

Noah attended Mary vale College, a private Roman Catholic High School in Johannesburg.

Career

He started his career in 2002, in the episode of the soap opera Isidingo as an eighteen-year-old. 

Afterwards, Noah hosted his own radio show titled “Noah’s Ark on Gauteng’s”. Later he dropped the radio show and focused more on his comedy career and collaborated with several international comedians for tours.

Later he hosted a program called “Run the Adventure” which is an educational program on SABC 2. 

In the following years of his career, he also hosted many shows like The Real Goboza, Siyadlala, South Africa Film and Television Awards, The Axe Sweet Life, and many more.

In the years 2012 and 2014, Trevor Noah won the Comic of the Year Award from the Association South African Comic’s Choice Award.

Trevor won three awards for his show “Born a Crime” in 2017. In the same year, he also won the Favorite African Star Award and other prodigious awards in various top categories. 

Apart from these recognitions, he was also nominated for his exceptional work and impressive performances since his coming in to the Media industry.

Trevor’s first book titled “Born a Crime” was released in November 2016 and was named as one of the fantastic books by the New York Times.

Trevor Noah’s Girlfriend/Relationship

Trevor had a short-term relationship with physiotherapist Dani Gabriel in 2014. Post his break up with Dani, he started dating singer Jordyn Taylor in 2015. 

The couple was together for three years but eventually split in 2018. 

Despite taking great effort in keeping his relationship with actress Minka Kelly under wraps, their romance came to light in August 2020. Shortly after, they moved into a New York home together. 

The couple broke up in May 2021, even though they never formally made their romance public.
